Hey, how are you? We really care to know.
ALY'S PLACE offers heart-driven, research-based counselling for couples, families, and individuals of all kinds.

When life gives us lemons...
...we can turn them into fresh lemonade together.
Whatever brings you here, I am sure you have special others in your life.
And sometimes these relationships instead of nurturing you can make you feel hurt, lonely and lost. This does not need to stay this way. We can help you navigate these challenges and learn how to build healthy, fulfilling relationships with yourself and others. In a completely non-judging, professional and caring environment, we will untangle together the situations and life stories that brought you to counselling.

About Marsha
Hi! I’m Marsha.
Originally from Melbourne, I spent much of my childhood moving around Australia before my family eventually settled in Canberra. After university, I combined my love of people, culture, and travel into my first career in the travel industry. This path took me to the UK, where I explored much of Europe and beyond, and later to New Zealand, before returning to Victoria with my then husband. Through these experiences, I came to deeply value connection, adventure, openness, and resilience—qualities that now guide the way I support clients in counselling.
At ALY’S PLACE I fulfill dual roles as Counsellor and administrator, pursuing my passion for making a positive impact on others' lives.
As a counsellor, my approach is solutions-focused, helping clients restore calm, gain clarity, and develop practical strategies for emotional and mental wellbeing. I’m especially passionate about working with women as they navigate all stage of motherhood, perimenopause, menopause, and life transitions, as well as supporting individuals with parenting challenges, relationships, self-care, resilience, and the search for life purpose. Most of all, I offer an empathetic ear—without judgement—sitting alongside you to gently explore what’s in your “toolkit”: what’s worked, what hasn’t, and together, uncover new ways forward.
My most meaningful role is as a solo parent to two children in their tween/teen years. Parenting has given me lived experience of both the joys and challenges of raising a family, and a deep respect for the strength it takes to balance it all.
My Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor of Management and a Diploma of Counselling, along with certificates in leadership.

About Amar
Hi, I’m Amar! My pronouns are they/them.
I was born and raised in India, but I have lived in Melbourne for more than half my life.
My educational and professional experience is quite varied starting off with completing a Bachelor of Science, to completing my PhD in 2022 exploring the experiences of family violence within the Indian community in Australia and their help-seeking behaviours.
Moving to Melbourne as a young teen, I struggled with identity and belonging, forming relationships (platonic and romantic), and understanding myself. Through life experiences and my support network, I have realised the importance of relationships – with self and with others – and how they are paramount to our overall wellbeing.
Counselling to me is about creating a safe space for my clients with a particular focus on empathy and comfort. My counselling approach is a mix of friendly, empathetic, and analytical. I am very committed to making sure that my clients feel heard and seen and feel safe and comfortable working with me.
During my downtime, I practice self-defence martial arts, going for rides on my motorbike along the beach, and getting cozy with a book and my cats.
My Qualifications
I am currently completing a Master's Degree in Counselling at Monash University. I hold a PhD in Family Violence, a Master’s in Secondary Teaching, and also have a Bachelor of Science and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
> Couples relationships
> Adolescent counselling (12+ years)
> LGBTIQA+ counselling
> Grief and trauma
> Neurodiversity

About John
Greetings! I am John.
I have had the great privilege to help a diverse group of people learn how to best utilise their minds and achieve their goals — people both international and domestic, of a range
of cultures, sub-cultures, faiths, sexual identities, health needs, and life experiences. My work as a counsellor is driven by a passionate curiosity about how the world works developed from a young
age, and my own lived experience of neurodivergence, mental illness, and trauma. I actively learn from my own and clients’ experiences and provide a therapeutic environment which is safe and compassionate, sitting with each person as an ally regardless of how challenging their life may be.
With each client, I help them to learn how and why their minds work, in a manner accessible and tailored to them personally, decide their own goals for change, and translate their new knowledge in to actions they can take to achieve them. I strive to empower them so that they learn to overcome challenges and achieve aspirations in to their futures.
When I am not counselling, you will find me writing and speaking on psychology, writing music, and spending time with my friends and family.

About Miranda
Hi! I’m Miranda.
I grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga, NSW, before my family moved to the Mornington Peninsula, which has been my home ever since. As an adult I have travelled the world, and these experiences strengthened my belief in the importance of empathy, openness, connection and learning from different perspectives.
After graduating from highschool, I completed a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University, pursuing my passion for literature, history, psychology, criminology, and business. Alongside my studies, I became qualified as a personal trainer - a role that unexpectedly revealed how deeply I was drawn to supporting others on an emotional level. Working with clients as they navigated personal challenges, motivation and mindset is what ultimately inspired me to pursue my Master of Counselling.
As a counsellor I offer a safe space where clients can speak freely, feel heard without judgement, and can explore new ways to move forward with clarity and self-compassion. Having survived cancer and experienced significant personal loss, I hold a heartfelt commitment to supporting others through life’s difficult seasons. I also have an interest in working with young people as they navigate school, identity, and the many pressures of growing up.
